one may deceptively think that the play is a romantic comedy because it clebrates war and all its glamour,considering the activities of the gladiators-Sergius and Bluntschli.However,that shaw detests war is evident in the manner Bluntschli is painted. Distributing chocolates in the war front may be professionally ridiculous,but its meaning is significant to the plot structure.Living together in peace is essential.War is dehumanising.
