This is a great question. Trade had a huge impact on Europe and the rest of the world. Whenever people trade, there is a mixing of cultures and usually this produces some really great advancements.
The most obvious example would the be ancient Silk Road that connected North Africa, China, Middle East and Europe. The start of the Silk Road was in Xian China and it spread greatly. The goods that were transported made huge cultural impacts. Some of the things that were transported on the Silk Road were - fabrics, like silk, spices, perfumes, medicines, jewels, slaves, and so much more.
In light of this, it would not be wrong to say that the majority of luxury goods that Europe enjoyed came from other places through trade routes. When we include the trade routes to the new world, all the points above become even greater.
