I think that Wiesel succeeded in writing Night.

One reason that it is a success lies in the meaning of his work.  With Night, Wiesel has added a new dimension to the study of the Holocaust.  In 1967, Wiesel asserted that “In the beginning there was the Holocaust. We must therefore start over again.”  Night  represents one way to "start over again" because it probes the nature of religious faith. ...
