I think Florence Nitingale was more interested in helping others than anything else. She was self-less. She used her fame to help others, but did not just sit on her laurels. She worked tirelessly, until she died.

destroying the fame why did florence destroy her fame before asking the doctors & officers' help to improve nursing & common soldiers' conditions in England although she could do it by the help of the king or queen of her country who could easily order the doctors or officers to do so?
