Border Agent Mike F manages to track down the lost walkers just in the nick of time in The Devil's Highway. If he hadn't found them when he had, they wouldn't have been able to hold out for much longer in the searing heat of the Arizona desert. When Mike F finds the men on the Vidrios Drag, they're in a terrible state. All of them have kidney damage due to the baking heat.

The men are flown by helicopter to the Yuma Medical Center for urgent treatment. Dr. Haynes, the doctor treating the men, says that they look like mummies from ancient Egypt. In case we didn't already know it, these men are practically knocking on death's door. In fact, Dr. Haynes says that had the men not been rushed to hospital by helicopter when they had been, then they wouldn't have survived, so badly had they been affected by their wanderings in the baking hot desert.
