Your course materials might give exact definitions of each type of prosecution. If not, you should start your answer by noting that these six types of prosecutions are not the same from one state to the next, in the details of how they are administered. If you can point to a specific example or two of this, it might be worth extra credit!

You should take the time to define each of the six prosecutions, as you are going to analyze them. You will need to demonstrate your understanding of the differences between them, which are sometimes subtle. At what stage in post-arrest proceedings does each type of prosecution come into play? How does each alternative affect the defendant's permanent criminal record? What are the choices a defendant faces, for each alternative?

Your opinion of any approach, as well as the concern raised about that mode of prosecution, will depend on points of view: yours, for the opinion, and that of the critics, for the concern raised. For example, those who object to "diversion" as allowing subjects to avoid having any record at all tend to be those who favor stronger law enforcement, while those who believe "sentencing diversion" tends to induce guilty pleas by innocent defendants are more concerned with civil liberties. Identifying these points of view will help you both think out your answer and demonstrate good overall understanding of the subject.
