There are many traits that would need to be found in an ideal police officer.   Among the most important are:

Honesty and trustworthiness.  Police officers have a tremendous amount of power.  They have the power to arrest people.  Their word tends to be believed by most civilians and by juries.  This means that they potentially have the ability to harm people greatly if they are willing to do things like lying to promote their own interests.

They must have good people skills.  Police officers deal with the public in many different situations.  Often, they have to deal with people who are under a great deal of stress.  They have to deal with people who are very hostile or who are traumatized.  They have to be able to listen to those people, gain rapport with them, and then communicate to them what is needed.  All of this can be very difficult.

They must deal well with stress.  In the best of times, being a police officer is stressful.  Police tend to work irregular schedules, making family life difficult.  They must deal with more kinds of stress than most people deal with in their jobs.  Therefore, they have to be able to handle a great deal of stress if they are to survive in their job.

These are some of the most important traits of an ideal police officer.
