The term "world system" denotes the 15th century equivalent of the present system of globalization. A concept developed by Donald R. Wright, he shows that Niumi, a small sector in Gambia, Africa, was incorporated "the world economic system, or world political economy" an how they developed a bureaucracy and a colonial system (Kalala Ngalamulume).
