There are a couple of things that have to be done in order for businesses to enhance cultural diversity in the workplace. I think that cultural diversity has to be a part of the company's mission, almost as important as bottom line profits or workplace safety. If it is not genuinely embraced in this manner, diversity will be seen as an "add-on" or something that is added to the crowded plate of demands and not a part of it. Someone should be in charge of ensuring that diversity is apparent and seek to integrate it fully into what the business does in terms of outreach to new revenue streams and internally to ensure that others believe in its purpose. Businesses that understand the need and demand for diversity in a more globalized work setting probably have a better chance of ensuring that, as a concept, diversity is respected and clearly ingrained in the philosophy of the organization.
