For many years, Chilliwack Public Utilities Commission had five office locations where people could take their payments. On the first of the month following next month, you’re closing these offices. On that date, 100 local merchants, such as grocers, will begin to accept utility payments. Closing the freestanding offices will save the municipality almost $1 million a year. Customers will still be able to mail in payments or have them deducted automatically from their bank accounts.

We thank you for your support over the years. This letter is to inform you that starting next month (the first of the month) we will be closing five office locations. We know that this might inconvenience some of you, but we have made arrangements that we believe will help you in the long run.
First, on the first of next month one hundred local merchants, such as grocers, will accept your utility payments. The benefit of this move for you is that you now have one hundred offices instead of five. This fact alone will make making payments more convenient for you.
Second, by eliminating these five office, we will also save almost one million dollars for the municipality. This money can go towards other needs for the municipality. We believe that this new arrangement allows us to be better stewards of our resources and serve you more efficiently.
