Dear Diary:

It started out as just another day on the farm. We bucked a lot of barley today. Curley's wife stopped by the bunkhouse; said she was lookin' for Curley, but she didn't seem to be lookin' too hard to me. That woman ain't lookin' for nothing but trouble, if you ask me. She's gonna get somebody killed one of these days. She sure does seem to have the eye for me. I flirted with her a little bit, but not too much.

We got two new fellers to work on our team. One of 'em is a little guy named George Milton; the other one is a big ole bear named Lennie Small, but there ain't nothin' small about him. Seems kinda strange that those two guys travel around together, but I guess everybody needs somebody to take care of and to have take care of them.
