The question asks for a twist and climax at the end of day 2. Perhaps "climax" means "cliffhanger" in this situation as well. In all honesty, I think you already have a climax and twist written. Ending that section with Steve being tortured by the woman and his father just walking away is a big twist and cliffhanger. It is a strong enough ending that I believe it would function just fine as an end to the section or chapter.
Either way, you need to write something that wraps up the conflict. John and his friends have found Steve, and Steve is in trouble. His life could be at stake. My recommendation is to have John and his friends rescue Steve. You can go one of two ways with this. The first is to have John and his friends rush in the home at that moment and get Steve out of there. The second option is to have John and his friends step back from the situation for an hour or two and plan a rescue job for early the next morning. The logic would be that the woman is likely sleeping at that point, and you could write a section that has John and his friends sneaking into the house in order to clandestinely rescue Steve.
