Compare and contrast the short stories "The Cask of Amontillado" and "The Most Dangerous Game" (two comparisions and two contrasts with details).
Please answer it particularly by giving two comparisons with supporting details and two contrasts with supporting details in two stories above, please.
These are two of my favorite short stories, but I've never really considered them alike in any way. However, there are several similarities to the two.
- THE LURE. Both Fortunato and Rainsford are lured to the locations where their would-be killers planned to end their lives. Montressor leads Fortunato into the catacombs with the promise of a vintage spirit, but instead, it is his final resting place that awaits. Zaroff wines and dines Rainsford before promising him an exciting hunt of a rare prey.
- DEPRAVED BUT INTELLIGENT. Zaroff and Montressor are not your typical murderers. Cunning, wealthy and highly intelligent, both have well designed plans for the their would-be victims.
Contrasting elements are a bit more obvious. The two stories take place in two different centuries and in opposite parts of the globe.
