Compare/Contrast Christianity with Judiasm.  What is their Significance with Jesus?

The major difference between these religions with regard to Jesus is that Christians believe that Jesus was the Messiah.  They believe that he was the son of God who was sent down to Earth to sacrifice himself so that people's sins could be forgiven.  Jews, on the other hand, believe only that Jesus was a prophet.  He does not have any special, exalted place in their religious tradition.

The only other real connection between Jesus and Judaism is that Jesus was himself a Jew.  Christianity started out as a sect of Judaism and only later broke away and formed a new and distinct faith.
