Compare and Contrast the Aztec, the Inca, and the Maya.
The first contrast is the location of each. The Aztecs were located in modern day Central Mexico. The Mayas were located in modern day Southern Mexico. Meanwhile, the Incas were located all along the western coast of South American (primarily modern day Chile). This being said, the Incans controlled a much larger amount of land than the other two.
Secondly, the Aztecs and Incans came into power around the 1400s while the Mayans came into power much before that (closer to sixth century AD). The Aztecs and Incans had societies largely based on the military prowess and the ability to conquer.
The Aztecs and Mayans developed their own writing system while the Incans never did so.
One commonality is that the Spanish came into power during the 16th century and virtually took over all three societies. Additionally, all three groups were very agriculturally based. They also had strong religious traditions established in their societies which would have differed and yet would have created a similar bond amongst each individual society (a certain loyalty is developed within a group of people who all believe in the same things).
