What would a new executive do to improve communication at a company?
A new executive should implement a strategic communications strategy for a company. It must be a multi-modal one which reflects the different technologies, stakeholders, and cultures within the organization. The executive's speech should lay out in detail how s/he will promulgate a new culture of openness. This should include a regular newsletter keeping all company members apprised of major policies and strategies (including staffing plans), posted on the company website (perhaps accessible only internally), and sent via email. It would also be useful to have an electronic suggestion or complaint box where workers can communicate to management without fear or reprisal. Internal social networking sites and regular monthly meetings would also improve formal communications.
