Well, I'd say that in Chapter 15 Scout affects events without fully realizing why or how what she's doing will work. By that I mean, she very much wants to keep this crowd from hurting Atticus, and she's trying to stop them, so she just starts talking. What she doesn't realize is how she manages to connect with them emotionally, opening their hearts so they see Atticus and his family as fully human.
