Please help- need urgent assistance for a presentaion end of this week regarding leaders impact on the cold war.
There are at least four very famous quotes spoken by various Cold War leaders that could be said to have shown the "continuation" or lasting power of the Cold War.
The first, chronologically, was spoken by Winston Churchill. He was the one who said that there was an "iron curtain" that was blocking Eastern Europe from the West. He said that
From Stettin in the Baltic to Trieste in the Adriatic an iron curtain has descended across the Continent.
A second quote is from Nikita Khrushchev. He said, with reference to the West "We will bury you." This showed his feeling that the Cold War would continue until the communists won.
A third is from John F. Kennedy's inaugural address. There, he declared that he US would do whatever it took to defeat communism. The quote is
Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, in order to assure the survival and the success of liberty.
Finally, we can look at Ronald Reagan's line in which he called the Soviet Union the "evil empire." This showed a determination to take a hard line in the Cold War instead of continuing with the policy of detente that had preceded his presidency.
