Children are helpless.  In some places, they are prized for their small hands because they can get into places in machines where adults have trouble.  They also work for free, as slaves, or for next to nothing.  They are easy to intimdate and control.

The factors which cause children to be forced into adult roles and responsibilities include, as mentioned above, poverty, war, and culture.  Other issues which impact what children are forced to do do include overpopulation, limited space, disease, loss of parent(s), and religious beliefs.

I think that in some areas of the world the denial of children's rights is a result of the traditions of the country or religion. In other areas children's rights are denied by adults looking to make a profit. This could be child labor used in factories to keep profits or using young girls as prostitutes on the streets.

In Sierra Leone, Uganda and Liberia, many children are denied the simple right of being children.  They are forced into being child soldiers and made to commit acts of murder and genocide.

Children are often tragically involved in human trafficking in many parts of the world, including the United States - Mexico border region, where they are sold into slavery.

It would help if you could give us an example or two of what you see as a denial of children's rights (or what rights children have, in your view).  This would affect our answers a lot.

For example, if a child has no access to education, is that a denial of his or her rights?  If so, then the factor that creates that issue is probably poverty or underdevelopment.

For another example, is being forced to go to school a denial of a child's rights (adults are not forced to do anything similar)?  If so, the main factor causing this issue is the wealth of a country and its desire for more wealth.  It has the resources to educate its kids and it wants them educated so they can help expand its economy later.

CHILDREN'S RIGHTS

What are your opinions on:

How children's rights are denied throughout the world, and what are some general factors that cause or create such issues.

"The rights of children are being denied to them. They are neglected, exploited and abused". Discuss. Childhood is a period where a child is pampered with a lot of care, attention and affection in a bid to support him in his physical, psychological and emotional development. It is characterized by innocence, ignorance, uniqueness and immaturity. According to the UNESCO, childhood covers the age group starting from 1 to 18 years. This huge and largely voiceless population of children has fallen through the cracks in the international human rights arena. In many countries, people have equated human rights to adult rights, failing to understand that this also embraces children's rights. The convention on the Rights of the Child which is the most widely ratified world-treaty; put children's rights on the world's agenda. Adopted by the United Nations general assembly on November 20, 1989, the convention promises children around the world, the right............
