Moishe tells Elie's community of his horrific experience during captivity. Elie's family and friends had thought that Moishe and other foreigners were simply being deported, but Moishe reports that he and the others were taken into the forest, grouped together, and shot. He miraculously escapes because the soldiers presumed he was dead. Unfortunately, even though he tells the Jews that he witnessed babies being tossed into the air to be used as targets, no one heeds his warning.
