How might I rephrase these two sentences for use in an essay?
During the Second World War, Australian forces made a significant contribution to the Allied victory in Europe, Asia and the Pacific. The generation that fought in the war and survived came out of it with a sense of pride in Australia’s capabilities.

When you set out to rephrase a passage, what you need to do is to make sure that you keep the basic meaning of the passage even as you change some of the words. When rephrasing this passage, you need to be sure that you keep the idea that Australian forces were important in all theaters of the war and that the Australians who fought became prouder of their country than they had been before. So, all you have to do is to write sentences that have those ideas. You might say:
Australian forces were an important factor that helped the Allies win WWII in Europe, Asia, and the Pacific. The Australians who fought in the war came to have a greater measure of pride in their country because of the fact that it was able to contribute to the Allied victory.
