Can someone answer this please? I'm reading an essay My Dungeon Shook - according to the author, how should you react when someone treats you badly?
James Baldwin is the author of the essay "My dungeon Shook" and I have to form an essay - would someone be able to tell me according to James Baldwin, how should you react when someone treats you badly please?? - thanks
Baldwin's first piece of advice can be seen when he says, "The really terrible thing, old buddy, is that you must accept them. And I mean that very seriously. You must accept them and accept them with love." (You'll find this quote in the 5th paragraph). Baldwin goes on to say that a lot of people either don't understand why the world is as tough and set in its ways as it is, so we must understand that before we judge them too harshly, too. He tells his nephew not to be chained down by what people say, or how society seems to be, but to believe in himself and that will give him strength. He also told his nephew to remember his strong ancestors and to remember how they brought dignity to their names.
It is a letter that talks about the racism in America, but it can be applied to anyone who feels the mistreatment of others in society.
