Can anyone help me find a book that is somewhat similar to The Lovely Bones?
I have to do a paper with two books from either the same or different authors, that have the same theme, that can be anaylzed into 7-10 pages! ah!
Somewhat similar? Sure. There are several possibilities. The most obvious possibilities are to link The Lovely Bones to other books by Sebold. For example, you could compare Sebold's non-fiction memoir Lucky (which discusses her rape) to the treatment of rape in The Lovely Bones. Or you could pair it with The Almost Moon, and examine violence and sexuality in both books. You might consider some of the Sonja Blue books by Nancy Collins. They are much pulpier—they are punk vampire novels—but a woman who was raped by a vampire and then becomes a kind of special vampire, seeking vengeance on the vampire who turned her.
The Stolen Child is somewhat similar to The Lovey Bones. Keith Donohue's book is about a seven-year-old boy is who stolen by hobgoblins and replaced with a changeling. The boy, Henry Day, then becomes a goblin and watches as the changeling lives the life he should have had.
You might also take a look at What the Dead Know by Laura Lippman. It is about a woman who may have been abducted as a teenager.
