DDT which has a molecular formula of C14H9Cl5 has 14 atoms of carbon, 9 atoms of hydrogen and 5 atoms of chlorine. The atomic mass of carbon, hydrogen and chlorine is 12, 1 and 35 respectively. The molecular mass of DDT is 12*14 + 1*9 + 35*5 = 352

The percent composition is:

carbon: 168/352 = 47.7%

hydrogen: 9/352 = 2.5%

chlorine: 175/352 = 49.7%
