In the book, 'The Outsiders' by S.E. Hinton, who could be the three heroes and why?

I have to write an essay on who can be the 3 heroes in The Outsiders. ihave Johnny as a hero... and I have Darry as a hero too...

Johnny is a hero because he saved the kids who were in the church and he also saved Ponyboy from getting killed.

Darry is a hero too because he is the one that is taking care of his family.. he is really brave and everything.

It would be a lot of help if you give me some more ideas for Darry too.... I have enough for Johnny, but for Darry I have about 6 sentences so could you help me with that please?

I need to know the last person. I don't know who to choose... and if you do know then can you tell me why too?? Thank you.... who ever helps or just answers something.. thank you sooo much!!!

I think that Johnny is certainly a good choice, and I would agree with your suggestion of Darry too. He has kept his family together after the death of their parents, and has made great sacrifices to do this. Darry was capable of going to college and of escaping the lifestyle of the greaser. However, he puts his family first. He hides his own frustrations and fears from Ponyboy in particular, which is why it takes Ponyboy so long to understand that far from disliking him, Darry has a fierce protective streak towards both of his brothers. Darry ensures that Ponyboy is safe and goes to school. Darry allows Ponyboy to realize his potential, in a way he was not able.

I would select Ponyboy as the third hero. He has the courage to make something positive from the tragic events of that summer, in telling the story so that others can learn from it. He grows up in the course of the story; learning to understand and acknowledge the love of his brothers. Ponyboy sees also that there is no great difference between the Socs and the Greasers. His strength in speaking to Randy after the terrifying events he has been through show courage, and a desire to change the situation from war to peace.

Maybe the two different worlds we lived in weren't so different. We saw the same sunset.
