If we can identify the interaction between rumors and b1 integrin, we might be able to find a way inhibit the growth of the tumor, shrink the tumor, or find a way to identify where a tumor might begin to form. There could be a future in this, in terms of treatment or prevention.

It is known that tumor cells are the invaders of the healthy tissues, forming metastases, due to their flexibility, given by the special receptors, in changing their shapes when surrounding the tissues.

b1-integrin is the receptor that is very often formed in most of the tumors and it's function is influenced by the cell signal SCAI (suppressor of cancer cell invasion). The less SCAI in tumor cells is, the more flexible and fast these cells will become.
