Here are my associations:
Politics -- fake/false
Power -- in the wrong hands
President -- just a politician
government -- ineffectual
While I wouldn't want to live under any other political system, I do tend to shake my head at the ridiculousness of the political process and most of the politicians in the United States. I still want to hope that the future will be different, but I don't see that in the immediate future.
Here are my associations for the words you requested, and good luck with your project. I second the suggestion that these answers have changed drastically over the past few decades.
Politics = corrupt
Power = corrupts absolutely
President = Obama, leader
Government = for all
- politics: corrupt
- power: abused
- president: ineffective
- government: excessive
Sorry to sound so pessimistic, but our political system doesn't seem to have been working very well in the last few decades, at least if the size of the national debt and other unfunded obligations are taken into account.
For me, the answers for this would be
- politics -- complicated
- power -- hard to define (meaning that it is very difficult to define power, not that my answer is hard to define)
- president -- overrated as an office (meaning that we expect too much from them)
- government -- controversial
For those of us in the United States, these answers are surely much different than they would have been a couple of years ago.
Here are my immediate associations with the words:
- Politics- Corrupt
- Power- Weakness
- President- Obama
- Government- (sorry, no immediate association)
I, too, am curious about you project. Please let us know what your results are.
Politics - campaign
Power - money
President - Obama
Government - Gridlock
Could you tell us a little bit about your research project after you get your results? It would be interesting to know how many negative first associations there are for people during this campaign season.
Thank you very much!
