Ernest Hemingway's "In Another Country" conveys a powerful sense of strangeness and melancholy. Write an essay in which you analyze the elements in the story that create the mood. Give specific examples to support your analysis.

First, you need to understand what the question is asking you. The question wants you to consider the melancholy and strangeness in the story, and to decide which one (or more) of the elements you mentioned was the strongest tool that Hemingway used to achieve this mood. There is no right or wrong answer, so don’t be afraid of that. How do you feel? Write what you think and feel, and find the strongest examples from the story that prove your point.
