What are some key points for an essay about globalization and its effect on the French language?

From doing some preliminary research on this topic, it appears that globalization is having and will continue to have a negative impact on the French language. The French overseas empire (outre mer) has shrunk and French is being replaced in formerly French-speaking countries by native languages, English, and others. Also, countries joining the European Union and those countries that are already members of the European Union cite English as being a more useful language than French. This is because the influence of the United States is greater world-wide than France. Sacre bleu! Even Quebec with its dual English/French language and heavily-influenced French culture has repeatedly voted down pulling away from the rest of Canada because of the economics of globalization.
