How do I do a research paper outline on the topic of Atticus Finch's courage in To Kill A Mockingbird?
This is my thesis statement:
Of the many characters in To Kill a Mockingbird, Atticus Finch is the most courageous because he stands his ground for what is right while teaching his children to fight for what they believe is the right thing to do.

When writing an outline, you should note that Microsoft Word does not get the format right automatically. You will need to correct the format. You are going to begin with Roman Numerals for your main points and then use capital letters as subsections.
II Point 1
When writing about Atticus’s courage, you will want to show different examples. I suggest the rule of three. You can choose three ways he is courageous. He shows moral courage in taking the trial. He shows physical courage in shooting the dog. He shows emotional courage in raising his children.
You will also want to include quotations in your outline. Here is an example of Atticus’s views on courage.
I wanted you to see what real courage is, instead of getting the idea that courage is a man with a gun in his hand. It's when you know you're licked before you begin but you begin anyway. (ch 11)
This is an example of Atticus’s view of emotional courage.
