In a poem entitled "Andrea del Sarto," Robert Browning wrote these lines which relate to a person's striving to attain goals:
Ah, but a man's reach should exceed his grasp,
Or what's a heaven for?
Topic Sentence: In life, it is those who "reach" beyond themselves and who surpass their usual "grasp" of expectations, who succeed as they pursue their goals.

In writing the paragraph, which some writing handbooks reference as a one-paragraph essay, the writer can employ a "hook" such as the quotation above to catch the interest of the reader. Then, the writer composes the topic sentence and follows this sentence with supporting details.

To put it simply, the topic sentence presents what the writer is going to "tell" the reader. Then the writer "tells" by elaborating and giving examples in supporting sentences. (These supporting sentences are the most important part as they provide the "proof" of what the writer states in the topic sentence.) At the end of the paragraph, the concluding sentence is formed by the writer re-wording the topic sentence as a reminder to the reader of the point that he or she has just made.

You appear to be looking for a simple topic sentence, which is easy enough to do based on your example.  Because a topic sentence is part of something greater or bigger, though, it's important that the topic sentence matches whatever you're planning to focus on in the rest of the paragraph, essay, or whatever.

From your question, this is a simple paragraph on goals; I assume you're discussing such things as the importance of goals, the need for goals, or even the consequences of not having or setting goals.  Here are several ideas to get you started:

Dreams are easier to achieve if one sets smaller goals along the way.

One will not experience great success without setting goals.

Great things happen when goals are set.
