In "After Twenty Years," what is the motivation of each of the characters in posing as a person from a different social class? The man's motivation seems more easily explainable: an aristocrat, he may want to meet a woman who appreciates him for something other than his wealth and status. But the working class woman posing as an aristocrat, and then engaging with a man she takes to be working class, is harder to explain.
