After reading about the experiences of Jehu Grant and Boston King, did each man make the better choice for himself? Why or why not?
It is difficult to judge whether each of these men made "the better choice" for themselves. They each gained and lost: King lost Viole; Grant lost some more years of servitude. They each found a peaceful place for themselves where they could prosper in their own ways: Grant had a free family and King received an education. It seems that each man died with some of his dreams and hopes realized. Certainly, each died as a free man, no longer a slave.
