You need to solve for y the given two-steps equation, hence, you need to subtract 9 both sides, such that:

`9 - y - 9 = 16 - 9`

`-y = 7`

You need to multiply by -1 both sides, such that:

`y = -7`

Hence, evaluating the solution to the given equation, yields y = -7.

QUESTION:-

9-y=16

SOLUTION:-

9 - y = 16

We have to simplify till we get the value of y or till it is further impossible to simplify;

Subtract 16 from both sides;

9 - y -16 = 16 - 16

Since 16-16-0 Hence;

9 - y - 16 = 0

- y - 7 = 0

Transfer -7 to RHS,

- y = 7

Transfer the subtraction sign;

y = -7 Answer

9 - y = 16

In order to find the value of the unknown variable y, we need to isolate it,

9 - y = 16

9 - y - 9 = 16 - 9          Subtract 9 from both sides

-y = 7

-y/-1 = 7/-1                  Divide both sides by -1

y = -7 Answer.
