To find the median of a set of numbers (which basically means middle number), the first thing that you have to do is put the numbers in order (from least to greatest is easiest).  If you have an odd set of numbers (like 9 different numbers) then you just find the number that is in the middle.  But like in this set, there is an even set of numbers (6 numbers) - so there is not ONE number in the middle - so the rule is that you find the TWO numbers in the middle and average them together (or find the mean of the two middle numbers).  In this example, putting the numbers in order would give you 138, 230, 235, 412, 466, 976.  The two numbers in the middle are 235 and 412.  To average (or find the mean) you add the two numbers to get 647, then take that sum and divide by 2 - so 647/2 = 323.5.  The median for this set of numbers is 323.5

First you must arrange the numbers in order see below:

138, 230, 235, 412, 466, 976

Next you would look for the middle number which in turn will be your median unless you have an even amount of numbers which in this case you do. If this is the scenario you get the two middle numbers (235 & 412) add them then divide by 2. 

235 + 412 = 647

647/2 = 323.5

Find the median (middle number) of given set:

[138, 235, 976, 230, 412, 466]

step 1: First you must put the set in numerical order.

[138, 230, 235, 412, 466, 976]

step 2: Next find the middle number

[138, 230, 235, 412, 466, 976]

*This set has an even amount of numbers, so there are two numbers that are in the middle.  

step 3:  Because there are 2 numbers in the middle, you must add these two numbers and divide by 2 to find the median.

235 + 412/ 2

647/2= 323.5

The median of this given set is 323.5

You will need to arrange the numbers in order to begin.  

(138,235,976,230,412,466)

When you put them in order they will look like this (138, 230, 235, 412, 466, 976).  There happen to be exactly six numbers in this case, so there are two middle numbers instead of just one; therefore we must add those two numbers together and divide them by two like this...` `

`235+412=647`

`647//2=323.5`

323.5 is the median of this set of numbers.

In the given set

to find the median ,first we need to arrange the set of numbers in order,

so,

[138, 235, 976, 230, 412, 466]

=> [138, 230,235,412,466,976]

here,There are  6 numbers and so we don't have just one middle number, we have a pair of middle numbers.

so ,
