a) Apart from the domestic use (for cooking, drinking, cleaning utensils & clothes, gardening, bathing, toilet use, etc.), water is also used in industries, agriculture, public use (parks, fountains, etc.), commercial and institutional areas (school, offices, airports, etc.), etc. A large number of industries are dependent on water for their day-to-day operation. Industries use the water in their production process and/or for cleaning. For example, water is converted to steam, which drives turbines to generate electricity in a thermal power plant. We also use a large quantity of water to irrigate our crops in agricultural fields. The parks and fountains around us require water. At many places, roads are also cleaned using water. We have consistent requirement of water at our commercial and institutional installations, including schools, colleges, hospitals, airports, etc.
Hope this helps.
