the slope (m) of the line that passes through the points `(x_1 , y_1) and (x_2 , y_2)` is   given as

`m = (y_2 - y_1)/(x_2 - x_1)`

so , now here

`(x_1 , y_1) = (1/2 , -1/3)`

`(x_2 , y_2) = (1/4 , 2/3)`

so slope` m =(y_2 - y_1)/(x_2 - x_1)`

                 `= (2/3 - (-1/3))/(1/4 -1/2)`

                 ` = (2/3 +1/3)/(-1/4)`

                   `= ((2+1)/3)/(-1/4)`

                   `= (3/3)/(-1/4)`

                  `= 1/(-1/4)`

                  ` = -4` is the slope
