    The Spirit of Evil tempted Gimpel to pour a bucket of urine into the bread. It wanted him to fight back at everyone who had made fun of him—to essentially get revenge. This would have changed his character, but for the worse. It would have destroyed his loving and good-hearted nature. It may have made him proud for a time, but overall, it would damage his faith and heart.
