A good question. It means that the speaker spoke so well that it seemed like he was voicing his listener (the auditor)'s secret thoughts. That's how articulate and persuasive he was, and it refers to the way evil gives voice to our inner yearnings, or bends our thoughts to the dark side. (Think Darth Vader here. ;-)
