The Yellow Wallpaper Group

Question:

How does this delayed or unreliable narration relate to other moments in d story in which she contradicts an earlier entry or denies her own actions.

In "The yellow wall paper" the narrator describes how “This bedstead is fairly gnawed!” and how the children before her destroyed it, then she later reveals that as she was trying to move the bed,“I got so angry I bit off a little piece at one corner¾but it hurt my teeth."

Answers:

  1. About halfway through the story the author descirbes a "funny mark on the wall...that runs around the room."  She tells that it encircles the room except for the portion of the wall that the bed is up against.  She wonders who or what did it, then later in the story she ties herself to the bed and crawls around and around the room at the same height of the smudge on the wall.
