What are the political and social leanings of most students and faculty? Is it easy to express opposing views?

I would say that Yale leans towards the left. Most people on campus are probably democrats. However, the professors are open to different views as well as the student body. One of the great things about places, like Yale, is that diversity of beliefs is prized. Also there are a number of foreign students, which makes for even more diverse views. The same statements go for religious beliefs as well.
