   Phoenix makes her way slowly through the woods, talking to animals on her way, telling them to stay out of her way.  She crosses a log bridge and then sits to rest.  As she rests, she dreams of a boy bringing her a slice of cake.  However, she awakens to find nothing/no one there.  She makes her way again on rough terrain and runs into a scarecrow who she mistakes for a ghost at first.  She sees a black dog, and trying to push it aside with her umbrella, she falls over into a ditch.  Then the dog's owner, a hunter, approaches and helps her up.  As he does so, he drops a nickel and she picks that up.  That's when he pulls a gun on her to see if it scares her.  Once she finally makes it into town, she goes to the doctor's office for medicine for her grandson, and the nurse gives her a nickel.  With the 10 cents she has, she goes to buy her grandson a windmill.
