Nun

Nun West Asia
The primeval waters of Egyptian mythology. In rare illustrations Nun is portrayed as a man standing waist-deep in water, his arms raised to support the barque of the sun. The chaos of the primeval waters was deep, endless, murky, and unperceived: each of these four characteristics was personified by a pair of chthonic deities–Nun and Nauner, Huh and Hauhet, Kuk and Kakwet, Amun and Amaunet–all of whom comprised the Ogdoad of Khmun, ‘the town of Eight’. The watery element was thought to surround the world, but singularly lacking in Egyptian legend is a flood.
