Lugeilan
Lugeilan OceaniaAccording to the Caroline islanders, Lugeilan came down from the sky to teach men for the first time. His specific contributions were tattooing, hairdressing, and agriculture. Lugeilan was always connected with the coconut palm.
The Micronesian hero Olofat was his son. This trickster often visited heaven and on one of his visits he brought the secret of fire down from the sky. The cunning and deceit of Olofat probably led to the identification of Lugeilan with the bird god Luk, the god of death and disease.
