Kukulcan
Kukulcan AmericaPossibly the Maya wind god, counterpart of the Aztec plumed serpent Quetzalcoatl. According to Maya records, a conqueror named Kukulcan arrived in Yucatan by sea from the west in or shortly after 987. Kukulcan, ‘feathered serpent’, clearly recalls Quetzalcoatl, the name or title of the Toltec leader who quit the great city of Tollan in the face of an insurrection of subject peoples. Kukulcan, therefore, seems to be a cultural founder hero as much as a god of wind.
