The Winds of War | Characters

Literally hundreds of characters appear in The Winds of War, and more than a dozen have principal roles. At the center of the novel are the Henrys — Captain Victor "Pug" Henry, his wife Rhoda, and their children Warren, Byron, and Madeline. Each has a separate story, and as the world moves closer to war, the Henry family move in different directions, becoming, as Pug observes, tumbleweeds driven apart by the winds of war. Wouk attempts to give readers insight into the minds of each of these characters, although Warren is the least developed of the five.
