Students Speak Out On Overall Experience

“After four years at Williams, I don't really feel ready for the real world, just because Williams is not the real world. Williams is a place that shelters you from the world in many ways, and it tries to educate you in a very thorough, but not necessarily practical, way. I had a very good time attending classes, hanging out with friends, and just being myself here, because there was so little pressure to deal with the external reality of things. I know that Williams is also a place that tries to help you in many ways to find a job, but the range of jobs you can seek is limited. When you start, you get to see for yourself that you are not prepared, which actually might be true for any other college graduate. But I know that Williams has been excellent for me academically, and I always felt supported and just appreciated by people here. I was able to work on my own strengths, too, at a fairly intense pace, but a pace that I think my own goals set for me.”

“Williams was the perfect place for me to keep up on my interests and passions from high school. I think I picked up a few new ones, too, and really learned a lot in my major because of the great faculty we have here. I like this place so much, and I am not ready to leave at all, because I always feel like I am learning. I felt that someone was there for me all the time for support when I needed it. What matters the most are my professors, my coaches, and my friends who accept me as I am and stand by me without making me less independent. I know my parents were impressed with how much I changed when I came home the summer after freshman year. You just don't notice some stuff like that, because you are wrapped up in your work, but my family added lots of perspective that way, and they felt just like I did: that I picked the right school.”
