In addition to novels, William Trevor wrote numerous short stories, a collection of which was published in 1992; some have appeared in The New Yorker and other magazines. Most critics recognize him as a master of both the short story and the novel. He also contributed to other genres. His nonfiction includes his memoirs, Excursions in the Real World (1993), and he wrote dozens of plays for the stage, radio, and television. Several of his television plays were based on his short stories.
