How should I describe the play, and promote it, so people will watch it? Posted by ivdreamz on Jul 9, 2009. |

What a clever idea! Why not take one or more of Hamlet's many soliloquies and make a parody with your advertising? For example, you could have someone in costume if doing a TV ad and say something like this in a humorous manner:
Or: a short ad : Medical studies show that 4 out of 5 women are depressed. But, Hamlet is one seriously depressed man. And, added to this, he speaks with the beauty of Shakespeare's words. Dost thou not wish to see how he handles his depression? He it is who is of all Shakespeare's characters the most popular! Shakespeare's Hamlet (put date, times, location, etc.) Or: The clown and the gravedigger scene could easily be parodied and make a funny advertisement, too. As the gravedigger throws up the skulls, the clown could call out names of people who waited too long to attend the play Hamlet. Then, the gravedigger can respond that he is not waiting. The play is being presented ____at ----on_____,etc. (Or you could develop the scene more) Have fun with this assignment. Posted by mwestwood on Jul 9, 2009. |

to promote "Hamlet" you can make posters of three witches. and write few notes or dialogues of it. on the laptop/ computer choose a few interesting scenes and run them! wear any major character's costume and then promote. get printouts of few scenes .... brief with few picture and then distribute it among students , schools, teachers or post it on walls of cafe` , popular resturants. gather few friends and pick few scenes and demostrate in front of a crowd or group. You could create a billboard that is very simple but gets attention by listing some of the major subjects of the drama, followed by the play's name and time/place of production. For example: Love . . . Murder . . . Suicide . . . Revenge . . . The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark
Your Local Community Center________July 10-12
You could use color effectively. For instance, you could use a black background with the words "love," "murder," "suicide," and "revenge" printed in blood red, while the rest of the add appears in white letters. Easy to read and very eye-catching, I would think, and using red would add a dramatic effect.

This is a terrific idea for a classroom assignment. When I was a classroom teacher, I used to make posters "advertising" upcoming reading assignments in order to generate student interest and anticipation. I like the idea of using themes with simple illustrations, such as a knife with red drops of blood under the word "Murder" in a Gothic font. A memorable illustration can be powerful and communicate much without any words at all. Posted by mrsmonica on Jul 11, 2009. |
