Topic: Compare "The Tiger" and "The Lamb." In "The Tiger," the poet asks many questions, and one of them is "how could the same hand make such a terrible creature as you and also make the lamb?" How would you answer this question?

This is a great question!  "The Tyger" is one of my favorite poems to teach in my courses because it is interpreted in so many ways.  It is always fascinating for me to read my students' personal analyses of the poem.

I would answer this question by replying that God made creatures of prey and creatures that are predators.  Such is the balance of nature in this world.  If we did not have this type of balance, the world would be overrun with certain types of creatures.  Also, I would answer this question by saying that there is beauty in all creatures, even those who are predatory by nature, such as the tiger, and by creating creatures of all types, God wants us to appreciate all of them.
